The maximum weight of checked baggage is 50 pounds and the maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) for each checked piece of luggage. The overweight items range from 51 to 100 pounds and oversized items up to 62 inches but less than 80 inches will be received for overweight and oversize baggage charge of $75 per item.
The carryon items are limited to one bag in addition to one smaller, personal-type item. Southwest Airlines confines carryon bag dimensions to 10 x 16 x 24 inches. All the employees and passengers and their items are subjected to a thorough physical search. A friendly reminder is that, if your carryon does not fit the above dimensions, we will have to check it at the gate. It will be safely stowed below the aircraft during the flight, and you will pick it up at the baggage claim, and not the gate, upon arrival to your desired destination. Assistive devices and strollers may be claimed at the gate or jet bridge. However, make sure that any sharp objects (specifically needles, syringes, and other items required for medication) are properly covered and secured to prevent any injury to yourself and our staff members who care for your bags. Please do alert a Flight Attendant if you use a needle or syringe while onboard so we may provide you with access to a disposal pot. Reserve your tickets with us, only at Southwest Reservations.

BABY ON BOARD
If you’re traveling with an infant or small kid, it is to inform you that the proper use of a Child Restraint System (CRS) enhances child safety during the flight. So, Southwest Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) powerfully recommend that infants and small kids who weigh 40 pounds or less should be secured in an appropriate CRS when traveling by air. The additional useful information is given below:
Traveling with an infant on your lap on a domestic flight:
• One child more than 14 days old and under two (2) years of age, not occupying a particular seat, might be taken free of charge when traveling with an adult (12 years of age or older).
• Although a boarding pass is not needed for the infant, you will require a Boarding Verification Document.
Traveling with the new-born baby in an FAA-approved car seat:
• The infant fares are available with Southwest Reservations that enable a passenger to book a seat for an infant and use his/her FAA-approved car seat.
• A boarding pass is needed.
• Online check-in is provided if the infant traveling on an Infant Fare is age verified. Book your flight tickets with Southwest Airlines Reservations, and avail a great journey in a budget-friendly way.
